Using art as an expression of faith to witness about the love and grace of Jesus Christ
I came into my relationship with God at the age of 35, and my life has since been transformed. He gave His one and only son so that I could have eternal life with Him, and in doing so He said, “Kristen, your life counts”. As a result, I was coaxed out of hiding and with a deep desire to express my gratitude for God’s marvelous plan for salvation. I want to go out into the world and tell everyone about Jesus Christ so that those who hear and believe will be saved; in essence to go out into the world and tell everyone that their lives also count. As a result, I started His Witness Ministries in July of 2004 in my effort to encourage the Christian community to use art as an expression of faith and with the help of my husband, Lawrence, this effort has become my passion.
Together, Lawrence and I have been most known for the expression of our faith through music, mixed-media collages and writing. These are the artistic mediums we are gifted in and as a result they are our preferred vehicles for witnessing to others; they are the best way we know to communicate our convictions about Christ and illustrate our response to His sacrifice for us. And, they are effective because art is a great communication tool. Art reaches people on an emotional level, which makes it particularly powerful for communicating about the love and grace of Jesus Christ. A relationship with Him should be personal and intimate and the deepest response to His love and grace should be emotional – it should come from the heart, not the head.
All of our works are inspired by scripture and prayer, and are designed to usher people into His presence; it is for His Glory that we create, and we therefore create as He directs us. This is our passion. Additionally, we have a heart to help other artists do the same – create art with the purpose of revealing God’s divine perfection so that those who hear and see will believe and be saved.
